Worst Shoes of the Season

A friend of mine told me last season to never buy Marc Jacobs shoes because they felt like blocks of wood nailed to the bottom of one's feet. I listened. Perhaps someone should tell Carolina Herrera that her shoes look like they are fish wire wrapped around four toes. I say four because the last two toes are squeezed together so tightly that their circulation becomes one. Let's take a look at the worst shoes of the Spring 2012 season. So far we only have two designers on the list, but there are more to come (trust us!).

Jamie Nelson is a Fan of Our Work!

Remember that color block shoot Meagan Cignoli shot and I styled a few months ago? I was just informed that Jamie Nelson shot an editorial for Elle Mexico that is frighteningly similar to ours. Our editorial was published two months ago, and Elle's came out last week. The images are below, side by side, ours first and then theirs. You decide for yourself, did Jamie Nelson rip us off? The theme is too similar to be coincidental, this is absolutely unforgivable. Shame on you, Jamie!!

You Have Got to be Kidding Me!

I can't believe my eyes!! WWD is reporting that John Galliano was just booted from his eponymous label. It was only a matter of time before the anti semitic-mouthed designer was booted from his own label, given that Dior fired him two months ago. This is the end of an era, ladies and gays. I will never again look forward to another Dior presentation or a Galliano spectacle. The amount of love and passion he put into his art will never be forgotten, and can never be surpassed. I hope he can recover so in the near future he can design again. I doubt he will come back to Dior, and no one else will hire him unless some serious ass kissing is done. Either way, unless time passes and wounds heal, putting him on the face of anything would be a terrible idea for a plethora of reasons.  

Still--how can you fire one of the most respected designers of our time? He is so Dior, so haute couture, so avant garde, so ridiculously talented that no one can ever ever replace him at any of the labels he leaves behind. Not even Tisci or Philo can fill his shoes.

Christophe Decarnin Leaves BALMAIN!

I am dying right now. Chrostophe Decarnin is confirmed to have left the house of Balmain this morning with a statement that reads:

“Since 1945, the house of Pierre Balmain has been one of the leading French and international luxury brands," says CEO Alain Hivelin in the brief statement. "Christophe Decarnin’s work with the house’s design team contributed to the success that the brand has enjoyed in recent years.”

I think we know why he really left. At the Fall 2011 show, he was noticeably absent, and was rumored to have checked himself into a mental hospital for a nervous breakdown. He probably left so he could get full treatment. It must be really awful if he had to leave the label, or maybe they kicked him out. However, I hope they will move on to someone who is just as great as he is, and hopefully he can recover to start designing again in the near future. Meanwhile, we have our eyes on Carine Roitfeld. Please!!

UPDATE: Christophe Decarnin is exhausted?

I don't believe it, but of course that is what they would say. Nymag.com is reporting that Christophe's people said this:

“He has been exhausted because this season was particularly demanding and complicated. “

The spokesperson says that the rumors about a breakdown from drugs and the mental hospital are “completely untrue.” The spokesperson wouldn’t say the cause of his ailment, only that it was “not anything physical.”

No shit they are going to deny it. Do I believe it? No. What was so complicated about this collection? If anything it was less than expected of him. I just hope he's okay!

  

Statement

I have to say that I was shocked when I first heard of Galliano's antisemitic rants. I was upset and confused, and since this is probably the biggest scandal to hit the fashion industry since McQueen's death, I wasn't prepared. No one was, and now one of the biggest fashion houses has lost one of the most artistic, creative, and tortured souls in the industry. He is truly a creative genius, but in no way should that distract from the fact that he is an anti-Semite, and Dior was right to release him of his duties as creative director.

Who will take his roll, and who will walk the show after the models are presented is still up in the air. I am excited yet saddened to see his last Dior collection this Friday. I am not even sure the house will show his collection, or if he will show his John Galliano collection on Sunday. All we can do is wait and see what happens, but this is truly tragic.

Will he release an apology statement? With that video of him ranting "I love Hitler," I don't know if anyone will ever respect him again. I hope this was a sick joke, but no one should ever joke about such atrocities.
