I Just Died

Probably the most genuinely funny video I've seen since Alber Elbaz's interview with Lynn Hirschberg for the New York Times three years ago. This is Lanvin's Fall/Winter 2011 Ad campaign.

A Closer Look

Often we tend to overstep details on the runway, instead focusing our concentration on trends and fabric. Those few seconds we have to see the looks are not spent analyzing the small intricacies, rather we save those for later to be viewed on a computer screen.  Those small slits and slashes, the subtle weaving patterns, the unexpected buttons, and the intricate lace all tie in to complete signature looks, and most of those patters and details are significant when we try to weave out fakes. I didn't take a close look at the Proenza Schouler Fall 2011 collection, and I ended up missing a lot of details that I would have otherwise oogled over. Here is my favorite collection from NYFW up close.

Model of the Season

Every season we pick the most present and newest addition to the New York, Milan, Paris, and London catwalks. This year, we noticed a fresh face to the scene, who happens to also be a Yves Saint Laurent and Prada model: Arizona Muse.

Her eyebrows are heavenly bliss, and her stare is as magnificent and bright as Kate Moss's from as far back as I can remember. Let's just hope she stays on the scene and doesn't pull a Lindsay Wixson and disappear from most of the shows. That's usually it with models, though--one minute they're in, and the next minute they are sitting fourth row at a show they once opened.

Here are some recent pictures of Arizona, and I've pulled some from the Fall 2011 season as well.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2011

The silk mesh, the officer hats, the exaggerated shoulders, the handcuffs, and the elevator doormen. Marc always has the best shows (with the exception of previous Galliano and Dior collections), and he always splurges on them. His Marc Jacobs show cost nearly $1 million to put together. I can only wonder how much the Louis show cost.

In any case, this was really great, minus the rubber red heels. What is up with those? Marc is not known for his foot wear, but that was a bit redic. This was very much a Marc collection, a lot of his usual elements were seen, like the rounded collar, the fit of the clothes, and the pretty preppy luxurious day wear. I love the peacoats, and especially those handcuffs. Love the fact that Kate Moss closed the show, cigarette in hand and everything.

Love Louis!
