Style Watch

There have been many times that I would have given an arm and a leg to tell someone to their face, "why?." I just want to know. Just curious. What is the reason behind what they are wearing? What really goes on in the dressing room??

Two reasons why: sometimes what you see on the runway shouldn't necessarily be portrayed outside of such a setting. This situation, in particular, is quite frightening. I couldn't figure out how to cover her...top part...so I said screw it. I think we've seen enough on this blog to be prepared for such a situation as criminal as this.

I have no idea who this is, or why she's wearing a see through Rodarte dress. Click here to see the album, and source of image.

Let's not even talk about the hair or the overly cinched waist.

Can someone please explain this to me? I'm sure she's just a nice girl just trying to make a statement, right?

The Next Miz Zoe!

When my best friend's little sister, Gabby, told me she wanted to be a stylist, I got down on both knees and began chanting some sort of mystical worship prayer from a bad indie flick. "Finally," I said, "someone from my home state of Connecticut who is willing to put the shovel and ax down in place of a silk charmeuse blouse in search of it's perfect match: a pair of gorgeous tan corduroy shorts complete with black patent leather loafers." Is that too much to ask for?? I was going crazy, really.

So I sent Gabby on her first mission: take the individual articles of clothing from my Topshop post and make outfits out of them. She just sent me her two batches that she just pulled out of her pink and orange sparkle oven, (I'm not dreaming, that thing is real!), and I am not the least bit surprised. Well, just a little bit. She's really great! Fabu, even!

Anyways, here are the outfits in all their glory. We will have more for you later :)

A Distraction

My friends are a distraction from reality. I look up to them for advice about life as well as fashion. No doubt they have the best taste. Two of my good friends, Adriana and Amy, sent me pictures of their recent purchases. I love Adri's big spider ring, she bought it in Cape Cod (she can't remember the name of the shop, if you happen to know, shoot me an email). Amy's shoes are from DSW (click here to see).
Over-sized elements are definitely in this fall, along with military-inspired boots, knee high boots, and heels with shoelaces (she got lucky, this shoe personifies all three). Maybe if it was a little bit higher and the heel was either a lot thicker or a lot thinner. They look fabulous on her, though! And that ring...when I saw it in person I literally could not stand. It is to DIE FOR. I really need to know the name of that shop, I really want one!

Morticia

Word on the street is that the maxi skirt is back. The Morticia Addams floor length jersey skirt. Black on black on black on sometimes white. I was at Bryant Park Hotel the other day and spotted Coco Rocha at the Cellar Bar wearing a similar outfit to this:

With her long red hair and tall physique, she pulled it off perfectly. I would need to get 20 inch extensions put in before I could even begin to pull off this look.
