Menswear Favorites Fall 2012 Part 5

Balmain

The usual, nothing extraordinary. I love the pea-coats and tailored pants, but we are starting to miss Christophe Decarnin.

Victor & Rolf

This is the third time we've seen fur coats in the menswear collections. Our favorite was obviously John Galliano, but it was Viktor and Rolf's leather pants and ideal mix of textures and fabrics that left us wondering whether their Fall RTW line will feature similar attributes.

Menswear Favorites Fall 2012 Part 4

Seriously, Dsquared2 is my most looked forward to show during Menswear season. I love that the male models smoked cigarettes while walking, it gave it such an Italian edge. Again the man bag is back, this time in a more roomier baggage look. The fit of the suits and pants are perfect--tight and sexy.

Dries Van Noten made their show original by having a bunch of artists paint the walls...during the show.  Again velvet made an appearance. Like I said, I hope this is not an early indicator of a trend that will catch. Velvet looks good on absolutely no one and flatters absolutely nothing.

John Galliano

John, oh John, how we miss thee crazy French ways. Now it's Bill's responsibility to direct the brand in the somewhat same direction (not happening-refer to Couture FW 11/12). This collection proved otherwise from the Couture show, which was a complete disaster. The tailoring is very Galliano, but I would have preferred a little more attention to the makeup and accessories, as Galliano always did.

Givenchy

If a man can wear tights and skirts comfortably, then that same man should no less be sporting a large nose accessory. Again, the fluorescent suits are skimmed as the nose accessory takes front stage, often (understandably) mistaken by some as cocaine.

Menswear Favorites Fall 2012 Part 3

HA!  Can you believe Jean Paul Gaultier and Moschino did the same EXACT print for their shows? This is insane, I hope they were backstage at each others' shows laughing about it (highly doubtful, probably calling a press conference as I type this). I'm so distracted by this occurrence I'm going to ignore the neon tailored suits and the clown-like hot pink pants that Moschino decided to produce.
