Balmain Fall 2011

There isn't much to say about this collection as it looks to be that Christophe Decarnin did not have much of a role in designing the pieces (so we've heard). Something was missing. Actually, a lot was missing. Where is that rock and roll flare that he is so recognized for? Where are the pieces that make me go crazy? The shoes are horribly simple, and most of the pieces are so simple that anyone at the house could have created them. With the exception of the jackets (no one makes jackets like Balmain makes jackets), and some of the dresses, there really wasn't anything to look for in this collection. Where are the elements? Where is the beautiful embroidery? Where is the sparkle?!

Something is going on here, and I can only pray that Christophe has not taken time off to figure out his problems in a loony bin. Long story short, this collection was too simple to be from Decarnin. I am upset and confused. We must wait and see, I suppose.

In either case, I loved the jackets, the pants, and the dresses. Of course the best models in the industry walked, and some whom I hadn't seen in a while. It was refreshing, to say the least. I love great models!
