Hermès Fall 2011

Here's a thought--fire Christophe Lemaire from Hermes. He can take Raf Simons' post at Jil Sander and that whole situation going on over there. Then, excommunicate Raf Simons from the fashion industry and ban him from ever designing a collection for any well known brand name again (for their sake). After that's done, take Gaultier and give him Dior and a side gig at coaching Christophe on the form of the female body. Then take Phoebe Philo and give her the reigns to Hermes. At the end of the day, everyone will be happy (minus Raf).

What I was hoping when Gaultier was replaced by Lemaire was that nothing would change. What devastates me is the fact that Hermes has become a Jil Sander. Who the hell in their right mind would remove Gaultier from Hermes? Are you kidding? Was this a joke? I have NO idea why ANYONE would put Christophe Lemaire at Hermes. He is much too...block color. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it's just not Hermes.

For the brand, whose roots are equestrian, this is insanity. Just because you put racing hats on the girls doesn't make the clothes any more suitable or worthy of being Hermes. This is almost shameful. Lemaire is a great designer, but not for this brand. Maybe I'm just an old conservative who doesn't like change. In either case, this was bad bad bad.

I will leave you with some parting words and a statement that wraps up this whole collection: "This is Hermes, really? That looks like a pullover."
